I would say about eight out of ten times, I hop on an inquiry call and get told that they “just don’t know what to write about”. 🤯 This literally blows my mind. Maybe it is because I could talk to a wall all day long. Or, it could be that I am experienced SEO blogger that has been writing SEO blogs for over five years and have literally written thousands of blogs at this point. So, if I were a wedding photographer, this is where I would start when wondering what should I blog about.
Start with your galleries. Go through an decide which ones are your favorite that you want to showcase the most. As well as “do not touch” galleries, whether that be because they are outdated for your brand or just not part of the niche you want to market (like when a wedding photographer does a few mini sessions in a slow season).
With the galleries you want to use, scroll through and decide what you want to blog about. Here are ideas of what you can write about with just one wedding!
Honestly, the list goes on! Basically write about all the details!
In addition to drawing inspiration from your galleries, make two lists of venues. The first will be venues you have shot at that are in your area. There is no good writing about a venue that isn’t in your ideal location and is states away. Don’t waste your time. Just write about the ones you photographed that you want to continue to serve.
The next will be venues that you want to shoot at but haven’t yet. For these blogs, just bridal portraits with more “neutral backgrounds” or backgrounds that look similar enough to the venue. This is easier for outdoor venues. The point is to inform about the venue while showing off your photography.
Want to know my outline for venue blogs? I’ll write about in a few weeks 😉
One thing I am always jealous of in the wedding world is networking. There are so many opportunities for you to network as a wedding photographer. Use your photos to write about the vendors you work with. You can write individual blogs for individual vendors, or you can lump one type all together in “Atlanta Wedding Florists” blog, for example.
Then, share the article with them to share on their social, or wherever. Giving you a chance to reach their audience, and you theirs. Think of it like a collaboration.
These may not be my absolute favorite, but they do have opportunities for good SEO and are a great resource to share with your clients. So I write them anyway! Here are some ideas for you:
With tip lists, I usually start with a keyword deep dive on SEMRush. This helps me know what is actually being searched, not just my best guess. And then, I try to collaborate that with Pinterest Trends.
Okay, I can’t give away all my brainstorming secrets! 😉 Ready to blog with me? Reach out and let’s get this going!
